the ‘sassy’ story

a note from belle

One of my fondest memories as a little girl was to sit on the bathroom floor as my Mum put on her lipstick in readiness for a night of dancing and music with my Dad. I knew she would come home late in the evening, sneak in and check on the smallest of us and leave a surprise on the kitchen bench. If we were lucky enough, a colourful cocktail parasol lay in wait for a special ‘someone’. I think I adored the little parasols the most and my much loved gift would take pride of place on my bookshelf for weeks at a time. It symbolised long summer nights filled with carefree laughter and fun, and I would sit for hours twirling and imagining my own little piece of Tiki ‘Neverland’.

Many years on, I still have a fascination with long summer nights, freedom and maybe some sneaky table dancing. I love a good gin, the genius of a crafted cocktail and colourful ‘collaborations’. I love to see the joy and inspiration that creativity brings to people and I wanted to share that passion and celebrate it! So, after years of dabbling in illustration I decided it was time to create a new adventure. This adventure had to be a mish-mash of all things ‘fabulous’ and a little piece of me. Hence, the quirky cocktail parasol is back. Re-imagined as ‘Sassy Swivel’ and maybe just a little more refined.

So, to all you Wanderlust dreamers, I hope the colour and twirl of ‘Sassy Swivel’ evokes a little piece of your own Tiki Neverland. A reminder of a simpler time when the small things created big dreams! And… if you listen ever so closely, you too will hear the palm trees swaying, the waves on the sand and the touch of a warm breeze in your salty tangled hair.
